Hello All,
I hope this finds you well. I am writing with regards to the VT Digger article by Katya Schwenk exposing the years of sexual misconduct allegations against Ben Bergstein. Bergstein is the founder of North End Studios and along with his wife April Werner, is in the process of stepping down as president and executive director (Werner) of the Vermont Performing Arts League. This news came the same week as Chauvin's guilty verdict and Daunte Wright's murder. An emotional week to say the least...
As a Burlington resident, I felt called to take action and express my reaction to this cycle of abuse. This song (same title as Schwenk's article) flowed out of me. The title of both the article and song is a Bergstein quote. Allegedly, when one of his victims confronted him about his vulgar behavior, he answered (with his hands on her shoulders), "This is the way the world is."
I understand that at this moment, these are allegations and by law, Bergstein is innocent until proven guilty. However, these issues of brutality and sexual abuse span greater distances and depths than the Burlington area. Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

I will lastly say that today (April 29th) in 2013 Max Weaver passed away and I felt called to record this song this morning and then release it today, in part, for Max.
